Kuluye, Amanda's nephew, was a staunch member of the Efu secret society led by Amukei the chieftain, and he falsely painted Amanda black because of her successes. Anytime Amanda stepped into Dr. Alphosus's clinic, patients, who were present in the clinic, got better from their illnesses and eventual got healed. The usual spirit of death hovering over the clinic disappeared, and there was no record of death for a reasonable period of time.
